SLD initiated the programme on Inter-state Migration (ISM) in order to develop a comprehensive strategy addressing issues of workers from both source and destination sites. Towards this objective, migration centres were conceptualized to serve as information and capacity building centres for network partners and migrant workers through a common database, ensure safe migration processes from source to destination sites through linking them with agencies who can provide assistance in cases of violation of rights and last but not the least, by providing them with access to rights and entitlements. Gender equality not only manifests in doing away with differences, but also celebrating and nurturing them. Through research studies and interaction with women workers, we observed that on most occasions women do not report cases of physical and sexual violence at the workplace for the fear of retaliation in terms of being terminated from work, being labelled as a woman with low morals within the family, at work and in the society.
